INTERSTELLAR: viewed at Berlin Sony Ctr. Cinemaxx, FEB. 2015- Cutting edge pseudoscience from Christopher Nolan. Nolan is noted for making wannabe sophisticated big budget big star films with big special effects that bedazzle the masses but don't hold up to serious scrutiny. interstellar is a perfect example. In this one Nolan plays around with advanced notions of theoretical physics and cosmology such as Einstein's Space-Time Relativity and wormholes leading into parallel universes. To lend authority to this exalted wool pull he has consulted with noted Cal Tech physicist Kip Thorne, the go-to scientist for serious reflection on wormholes and possible other universes. What emerges is a pot-pouring of cutting edge wild ideas not too convincingly thrashed through the cosmic mix-master and coupled with a Back to the Future Midwest farm family back story that is fairly entertaining if you don't think about it too hard and just call it Science Fantasy, like Nolans other pictures. Last years Best Actor Oscar winner, Matthew McConnaughry, is back from his winning cowboy with Aids turn to star as a good ole country boy farmer who happens to do a little astronaughting on the side. He is engaged by a most unlikely Michael Csine ( think Alfie- in the role of a super scientist leading an ultra-secret interstellar project designed to find a new inhabitable planet for the remains of mankind to escape to, because as we learned from the early scenes back on the farm, the Earth is in the final stages of environmental reason Caine's project is so tiptop secret is that they don't want to set off a global panic on our dying planet.
Well, to make a very long story short Mac goes off in search of an appropriate wormholes way out there in the greater interstellar beyond accompanied by a beautiful co scientist on board (Ann Hathaway) finds his wormhole, lives to tell about it, and miraculously returns to the original country homestead where he finds that due to Einsteinian relativistic time bending he is now younger than his grandchildren. (e =mc2! In Part II maybe a few surviving earthlings will be shipped out to beyond the wormhole to carry on the propagation of our species on an exoplanet that is not dying. The details of how this is all worked out would require a report longer than the picture itself. But I must say that, at a commercial screening with a German audience, I was mildly amused and even found Mr. McConnaughry, whom I normally cannot stand, passably acceptable in a role that suits him. Old time actor John Lithgow was gramps in the rocking chair on the porch.
Give it five stars out of ten for half speed (Half Fast Science.

Aladdin having to be a shot by shot, word by word remake of the original, it would so be pointless and so unoriginal if they do stuff like that, I'm actually glad that this version is based on the ballad of Hua Mulan because so that it doesn't offend the culture of China and it stays to the legend ballad I also don't mind about the changes at all either, for Mushu, I do agree that he is funny but honestly he can be very annoying at times, is way too cocky, and was such a self-centered asshole in Mulan 2, plus for a Chinese dragon, he was so weak and small and they are supposed to be powerful and strong, also dragons are mostly associated with men, anyway, All I have heard that Mushu will be changed into a Phoenix and its fits for Mulan since they are supposed to represent woman, so Im fine with that I'm also fine for it not being a musical because it would be so awkward and so out of place if they all singing while fighting in a freaking war, just be glad that they didn't fully remove all the songs from the film since they all will be instrumental background music, also reflection will be sung in the end credits by Liu Yifei and Christina Aguilera, so thats a good thing For Mulan having a new love interest, and I gotta be honest, I don't think she even needs to have once since I feel she is an independent woman who does not need a man and she can live without falling in love with some, but anyway, for what in heard, Shang is separated into two characters because of me too movement and the director thought it was weird that Mulan was dating and later married her own general, I know that in this film, he will be Donnie Yen as Commander Tung & Yoson An as Chen Honghui, so I would say shang isnt replace, they pretty much just rename him Also I know people are nitpicking about other thing like Mulan not cutting her hair, which I heard that in china, cutting someones hair would be considered a punishment and is a sign of disgrace, so that I dont mind Also just so you know, Mulan was never supposed to be a comedy and a lot of the jokes can be very racist at times, Im fine with the film being dark and serious since they are fighting in a freakin war and it has to be about the action and martial arts, which Im great with because I love Kung-Fu films, and it feels like you are watching a marvel movie or something Oh yeah, also for that whole thing about the actress that is playing Mulan who is claim of supporting the HK police and their brutality, I honestly feel that, she and almost every chinese celebrity was forced repost it by the CPP, because if they didnt, their career would get ruin and also their family would get taken away or possibly get killed, I just honestly think we shouldnt judge a person by a single act they do in their lifes, because you have no idea what her struggles are and you guys were not there when she fought her own battles, so beside all that, I think shell do great for the role and just be happy that Disney casted an actual chinese girl to do it, and I think that Mulan has always been one of the most bravest and strongest out of all the Disney Princesses, and also she is top 3 of my favorite Disney princesses, so yea, thats why I cant wait to see this movie and why I think this will do great.
